Model Strengths:
Sporty design; performance and handling; available technology features.
Model Changes:
Infiniti's performance-oriented FX35 and FX45 continue into 2008 largely unchanged, with the only notable difference from the 2007 model being the addition of standard XM satellite radio.
Model Value:
The 2008 Infiniti FX is a stylish, performance-oriented crossover SUV with a little bit of sports car influence. It's available with either V6 or V8 power, and emphasizes on-road handling versus off-road ability. With either engine, the FX is quicker than most other performance SUVs in its class and has a nearly ideal weight balance for safe, quick maneuvers. The FX also stands out from the competition by offering several unique technology and safety features such as the available lane departure warning system and intelligent cruise control with preview braking.
Model Overview:
The Infiniti FX is again available in two models. The FX35 comes with a 275-horsepower, 3.5L V6 engine, and the FX45 gets a 320-horsepower, 4.5L DOHC V8. Both engines are mated to a five-speed automatic transmission with a manual shift mode. The FX35 can be had with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive; the FX45 comes only with all-wheel drive. The all-wheel drive system automatically transfers more torque to the wheels with the most traction and can send up to 50 percent to the front wheels as needed.Handling and on-road performance-as opposed to off-road prowess-is emphasized in the FX. It's based on a toughened version of the FM platform that also underpins Infiniti's rear-wheel-drive performance sedans and coupes, and with the engine mounted just behind the front axle (rather than in front as in most vehicles); the FX has a near-optimal 52/48-percent weight distribution front to back. This brings more stability during quick emergency maneuvers and on curvy roads, also aided by the vehicle dynamic control (VDC) stability system, which is standard on all FX models. A front independent strut suspension and multi-link rear suspension are new for 2008.Four-wheel anti-lock disc braking with brake assist is standard across the line, and models with the optional intelligent cruise control system, which can vary speed to maintain a safe following distance with the car ahead, also get the new preview braking feature, which senses the distance and closing speed of vehicles ahead in the same lane and anticipates the need for optimal braking power, priming the system for when the driver steps on the pedal.Unlike many other SUVs its size, there is no available third-row seat, but the FX's interior accommodates five adults, and the back seats fold forward with quick release levers for an expanded cargo area. There are also three under-floor cargo compartments to conceal smaller, valuable items. Both FX models include front side-impact air bags and side curtain air bags with rollover protection for all outboard occupants.Climate control, an information display, auto up/down front windows, and steering-wheel-mounted controls are standard on the FX35, along with an iPod interface, for the standard 300-watt, 11-speaker sound system with six-disc CD changer. The FX45 adds a sport suspension, 20-inch wheels, aluminum roof rails, automatic headlights, a Bluetooth hands-free phone feature, a sunroof, a dark chrome grille, power folding exterior side mirrors, and more distinctive wood and aluminum interior trim plus aluminum pedals. A V6 Sport Package brings some of these upgrades to the FX35.High-tech options include a DVD-based navigation system, intelligent cruise control, and a mobile entertainment system with DVD player and seven-inch flip-down viewing screen. There's also a Lane Departure Warning system available on the FX. The system uses a small rear-mounted camera to identify standard lane markings. When traveling faster than 45 mph, the system can send a warning if it suspects that the driver is drifting out of the lane. The system can be manually canceled and is temporarily disabled with the turn signals. Many available options are packaged together; for instance, the navigation system, lane departure warning system, and intelligent cruise control are offered in the Technology Package.

| Infiniti FX35 Lease: KBB Overview
Infiniti's FX35 lease and FX45 lease crossover SUVs actually look more like sports cars than light-duty trucks. The racy FX lease twins definitely stand out in a crowd, but their flashy design sometimes places form over function. The rear hatch opening, for example, is rather small and there is not much cargo space behind the second-row seats. Narrow side glass and a small rear window create large blind spots, although the standard RearView Monitor helps alleviate this concern. If you can live with these minor shortcomings, the 2008 Infiniti FX's lease impressive handling and quick acceleration make them the ideal performance crossovers, with expressive exteriors that can definitely turn heads.
Infiniti FX35 Lease: What's Significant about this Car?
Major changes for the 2008 FX series include new interior and exterior color combinations and the addition of standard XM Satellite Radio.
Infiniti FX35 Lease: Driving Impressions
The 2008 Infiniti FX lease shares its basic platform with one of Infiniti's most aggressive performance sedans: The G35 lease . This platform creates a nearly perfect front-to-rear weight ratio that allows the fully independent suspension to work superbly. In the FX45 lease , an enormous set of 20-inch wheels and tires delivers a secure connection to the road. While their grip is not in question, the firm ride of these round rubber giants might be somewhat unsettling. Once under way, the lease FX's steering is tight and linear, responding instantly to the driver's input while the sophisticated suspension keeps the FX nearly level in all but the most extreme cornering maneuvers. The steering can feel a bit heavy due to the large tires, and tight turning circles are not what the FX lease does best.
Infiniti FX35 Lease: Favorite Features
RearView Monitor
A rear backup camera allows you to see beyond the narrow rear window.
Interior Colors
The lease FX's optional Brick or Espresso leather interiors offer a welcome respite from the usual black, tan and gray.
Infiniti FX35 Lease: Interior
The FX lease interior has sort of a cocoon-like atmosphere. The front passengers sit low, and the big dash seems to tower over them. The seats are wonderful, as is the clever motorized instrument cluster that moves with the tilt and telescopic wheel. Rear passengers have plenty of legroom, but may find headroom a bit tight. Cargo space behind the rear seat is minimal, but handy rear-seat levers let you fold the rear seats without having to reach into the cargo hold to release them.
Infiniti FX35 Lease: Exterior
Infiniti lease describes the FX lease as a "Bionic Cheetah." The 20-inch wheels (standard on the FX45 lease ) seem enormous given the vehicle's short wheelbase and, with its short hood and minimal rear overhang, the FX lease in the side view seems to be all side doors and big wheel wells. The step-in height is low enough that entry and exit are easy, but the squat rear doors require tall passengers to watch their heads. Notable Standard Equipment
Notable Optional Equipment
The 2008 Infiniti lease FX35's standard features include a five-speed automatic transmission with manual shift and snow-mode feature, rear-wheel drive, power windows, power locks, heated power mirrors, heated leather seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes (ABS), stability control, fog lights, keyless entry, bi-xenon headlamps, 300-watt 11-speaker Bose audio with iPod accessory and a six-disc MP3-compatible CD changer, XM Satellite Radio, power tilt and telescopic steering wheel, RearView Monitor, 10-way power driver's seat with power lumbar support and memory, head-curtain and front side-impact airbags, cruise control, 18-inch alloy wheels, traction control and rear wiper. The lease FX45 lease adds a 320 horsepower 4.5-liter V8 engine, 20-inch wheels, all-wheel drive, power sunroof, Bluetooth hands-free phone system, automatic headlamps, aluminum roof rails and a Sport suspension. Options for the FX lease include all-wheel drive (FX35), Intelligent Key and a rear-seat DVD player. Both models offer a Technology Package that includes DVD navigation, Lane Departure Warning system and Intelligent Cruise Control (requires Hands-Free package which includes Intelligent Key and Bluetooth Hands-Free communication).
Infiniti FX35 Lease: Under the Hood
The lease FX35's 3.5-liter V6 has all the power this vehicle needs and delivers reasonably good fuel economy. The extra cost of the V8 is hard to justify considering you can load the FX35 lease with every option imaginable for the price of a base FX45 lease.
