Pickup truck usability; powerful V8 engine; short or long-wheelbase versions; four full-sized doors; luxury interior.

2008 Lincoln Mark LT 2WD Supercrew Model Changes:

The 2008 Lincoln Mark LT is basically unchanged, though there are a few differences to note. Light French Silk Clearcoat Metallic joins the color chart, navigation and 20-inch wheels are now available, and a rear parking camera is a new option. Satellite radio is now standard and remote engine start can be installed at dealerships.

2008 Lincoln Mark LT 2WD Supercrew Model Value:

The 2007 Lincoln Mark LT won praise from J.D. Power and Associates for Initial Quality, and as the full-sized luxury pickup truck is little changed for 2008, it's not a stretch to think it might take the award again. Though it is based on the Ford F-150, the Lincoln Mark LT has little competition as a luxury pickup, and it offers the versatility of a tough, go-anywhere workhorse with the added benefits of a comfortable boulevard cruiser.

2008 Lincoln Mark LT 2WD Supercrew Model Overview:

The 2008 Lincoln Mark LT offers buyers the best of both worlds-the luxury and comfort of a Lincoln sedan plus the go-anywhere, do-anything utility of a tough truck. The Mark LT comes in two wheelbases-138.5 inches and 150.5 inches, and each is available in either two- or four-wheel drive. All models are four-door SuperCrew Cabs and powered by a 300-horsepower 5.4L V8 putting out 365 lb-ft of torque. A four-speed automatic with overdrive is standard, and when properly equipped, a Mark LT 4x2 can tow up to 9,000 pounds.Standard across the range are power heated leather front seats with driver's side memory, an in-dash six-disc CD changer with MP3 capability and Sirius satellite radio, power windows and locks, a chrome grille, dual heated power mirrors with turn signals, halogen headlights, 18-inch aluminum wheels, wood interior trim, and electronic automatic temperature control.Popular options on all Mark LTs include a power sliding rear window, a power one-touch moonroof, a reverse sensing system, 20-inch chromed aluminum wheels, a DVD-based navigation system, power adjustable pedals, and a rear parking camera. The 4x4 models feature electric shift-on-the-fly, while 4x2 trucks come with traction control assist.Several packages can be ordered for the 2008 Mark LT. These include a Class IV Tow Package (with a limited-slip differential and seven-pin wiring harness), a Deluxe Power Package (with a power moonroof, power pedals, and power sliding rear windows), an Elite Package, and two Monochrome paint Appearance Packages.Standard safety features include remote keyless entry, four-wheel anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, an anti-theft system, and dual-stage front air bags.

Roomy interior; ride and comfort; unique styling; available luxury features.

2008 Lincoln MKX FWD Model Changes:

The Lincoln MKX, a new crossover for 2007, enters 2008 with relatively few changes. On the outside, a driver's side electrochromic exterior mirror is now standard, and three colors have been added. Inside, the standards list now includes Sirius satellite radio, heated and cooled front seats, front power lumbar support, a reverse sensing system, new metallic interior accents, and a memory feature for the mirrors and the driver's seat. Ford's Sync communications and entertainment system is also new for 2008.A Limited Edition Package is new this year, and it includes 20-inch chrome wheels along with a host of other cosmetic enhancements.

2008 Lincoln MKX FWD Model Value:

The 2008 MKX joins Lincoln's distinctive personality and style with a modern crossover vehicle shape, making the look and feel different than most other crossover vehicles. Aside from visual panache, the MKX has a roomy interior, decent fuel economy, and a full roster of safety features, making it a very practical choice.

2008 Lincoln MKX FWD Model Overview:

The new 2008 five-passenger Lincoln MKX crossover utility vehicle emphasizes on-road performance and interior space and versatility. The MKX combines a contemporary, somewhat sporty exterior look-with large chrome wheels, chrome trim, and an arched roofline-with traditional American luxury styling cues inside. The interior is trimmed in wood and "satin nickel," and there's a "cool white" theme for interior lighting. The interior is especially quiet and comfortable. The MKX has thicker sound insulation than most other vehicles in its class, and both rows of seating are sized for full-size adults. For expanded cargo space, the back seats-which can be reclined 15 degrees for comfort-fold forward easily via an Easy Fold remote switch (which comes as part of an option package). There are also several useful smaller storage areas, including a center console sized for laptops. The rear liftgate has a unique lighting system featuring LEDs inside and out, surrounding the Lincoln emblem. And overhead, an available panoramic vista roof allows a significant portion of the roof to be open to the sky.More notable standard features are satellite radio, heated and cooled front seats, front power lumbar support, a reverse sensing system, and a memory feature for the mirrors and the driver's seat. Ford's Sync system is also standard. The MKX includes front side-impact air bags and full-length side-curtain air bags as standard. The safety canopy system for the curtain bags assures protection during rollover situations, while the AdvanceTrac with roll stability control helps avoid those situations in the first place. Anti-lock brakes are standard as well.Heated seats are available for the back. Other standout options include adaptive projector-beam headlamps that help illuminate into a corner, DVD-based navigation, a rear-seat DVD system with an 8-inch screen, and a 14-speaker, 600-watt THX II audio system. There's only one engine available on the MKX, a 265-horsepower, 3.5L V6, paired with a six-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard, and an all-wheel-drive system is optional. The AWD system has been tuned for all-weather on-road driving, and can reroute torque as needed even before wheel slippage occurs. Fuel economy on the two-wheel-drive MKX, at 16 city, 24 highway, is good.

Lincoln MKZ Lease Model Strengths:

Satisfying ride; interior comfort and luxury; seating and cargo space; audio and navigation systems.

Lincoln MKZ Lease Model Changes:

The Lincoln MKZ, which was new for 2007 and previously called the Zephyr, enters 2008 with increased standard features. Sirius satellite radio and perforated leather-trimmed seats-heated and cooled in front-are now standard.Later in the model year, the new Sync communications and entertainment interface, which provides hands-free, voice-activated access to cell phones and portable multimedia devices such as iPods was made standard. The available navigation system now includes voice activation as well.Four new clear coat exteriors-Dark Blue Ink Metallic, Moss Green Metallic, Vapor Silver Metallic, and White Suede-join the palette of colors.

Lincoln MKZ Lease Model Value:

The 2008 Lincoln MKZ is closely related mechanically to the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, but it offers more interior comfort, luxury, and available high-tech features, without sacrificing the fun-to-drive qualities. The interior stands out for being spacious for people and cargo compared to other sedans; it's claimed to have best-in-class interior space and trunk space. And compared with other cars in this price range, the MKZ comes very well equipped; for example, heated-and-cooled climate-controlled seats are standard. The MKZ's premium sound system has been top-rated by both CNET and PC Magazine, while the available touch-screen navigation has been ranked the highest in customer satisfaction by J.D. Power and Associates.

Lincoln MKZ Lease Model Overview:

The 2008 Lincoln MKZ comes with a 3.5L V6 engine making 263 horsepower and 249 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission that's tuned to make especially smooth gear changes. There are two different models-one with front-wheel drive, and another with an intelligent all-wheel-drive system that's oriented for slippery road conditions and can seamlessly send more torque to the back wheels even before the front ones slip. The system adjusts power from side-to-side as well as front-to-back.As is expected in a Lincoln, the MKZ has a smooth and quiet ride; a front perimeter subframe helps reduce noise and vibration, yet a stiff body structure and special attention to suspension tuning allow sharp handling response, too.The sedan offers an especially roomy back-seat area, with best-in-class legroom according to the automaker, and a 60/40-split back seat that is spring-assisted and folds forward to expand the trunk space when needed. At 15.8 cubic feet with the back seat up and in place, the trunk is said to be the largest in its class also. The MKZ comes with anti-lock brakes, plus front side air bags and side curtain bags that protect outboard occupants in both rows. The top-rated premium sound system uses THX surround sound technology and has a total of 12 channels, 14 speakers, two subwoofers, and 600 watts of power, plus separate modes to get the best sound depending on how many people are aboard. The available navigation system, also top-rated, now includes voice-activation features. The standard-equipment list for the MKZ is extensive, including heated and cooled ten-way-adjustable front seats, a reverse-sensing system, dual-zone climate control, painted aluminum wheels, and LED taillamps. Standout options include the THX II-certified audio system, voice-activated navigation, high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps, and a power moonroof.

Navigator 2WD 4 door Model Strengths:

Refinement; quiet and versatile interior with power-folding third row; towing and hauling ability.

Navigator 2WD 4 door Model Changes:

Following a complete redesign for 2007, the 2008 Lincoln Navigator and Navigator L now come standard with a power liftgate, THX II certified audio with 14 speakers, Sirius satellite radio, PowerFold third-row seats, and heated and cooled front seats. In addition, a Monochrome Limited Edition Package is optional, and the Ultimate trim has been discontinued. New exterior colors added to the 2008 palette include White Suede Clearcoat, Vapor Silver Clearcoat, and Earth Clearcoat.

Navigator 2WD 4dr Model Value:

The 2008 Lincoln Navigator is one of the most luxurious American-made vehicles, appearing as an elegantly dressed full-size SUV on the outside with especially posh interior appointments. The new Navigator L model brings added cargo space and is a direct rival to the Cadillac Escalade ESV. The Navigator models stand out for their interior packaging, with a standard PowerFold third-row seat that automatically folds forward for an expanded flat cargo space. Yet the Navigator still has a truck frame and serious hauling credentials, with tow ratings of up to 9,100 pounds.

Navigator 2WD 4dr Model Overview:

Lincoln's large luxury SUV, the Navigator, was completely redesigned for 2007, with significant improvements in refinement, a more luxurious interior, and a cleaner, more elegant exterior appearance. A 5.4L V8, making 300 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque, is the only engine offered on the Navigator, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission that brings an especially wide gear range, for improved acceleration and fuel economy. It can also tow up to 9,100 pounds.Inside, the Navigator is fashionable and formal, with instrument-panel bezels styled after fashion eyewear, real Dark Ebony or Anigre grain-matched wood trim for the console and upper door panels, plus satin-nickel trim. The interior also includes soft leather upholstery and soft white lighting. An acoustic windshield and thicker glass help reduce noise. The Navigator gets an independent rear suspension design that allows more confident handling. The safety-oriented AdvanceTrac stability control system with roll stability control (RSC) is standard, along with front side air bags, Safety Canopy side air bags for all three rows of outboard occupants, and new knee bolsters for front occupants. The Navigator L is nearly 15 inches longer than the standard Navigator, bringing an additional 25 cubic feet of cargo space compared to the standard Navigator, along with improved ingress and egress for second- and third-row occupants thanks to wider-opening back doors. The second row can be configured 40/20/40 for versatile folding to accommodate combinations of passengers and cargo, and the third row is also split-folding and tumbles forward to make a flat cargo floor. A PowerFold system, which automated the third row's fold-and-tumble operation, makes the additional 54.5 cubic feet of cargo space even more easily accessible. With all the seats up, there's seating for eight. Each model is available in two- or four-wheel drive. A 600-watt THX premium audio system, with a six-disc changer and 14 speakers, is standard, as are 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic dual-zone climate control, HID headlamps, a reverse sensing system, a garage door opener, ten-way power driver and front passenger seats, and adjustable pedals. Options include 20-inch alloys, a moonroof, a towing package, a rear-seat entertainment system, power running boards, and a rearview camera.
